Good evening, Washington families. This is Principal Paul Travers with your weekly message.
First, I want to say a big thank you to everyone who came out for our science night last week! It was a fantastic evening with lots of exciting discoveries.
Now, looking ahead to this week: we'll have after-school tutoring available on Monday and Thursday.
Also this week, our students in the golf pathway program will be heading to Gillespie Park golf course on both Monday and Tuesday.
This Wednesday evening, starting at 5:30 PM, we're having our spring student showcase! This will feature performances by students from all grade levels here at Washington. We'll also have convenient grab-and-go Chick-fil-A dinner boxes for those in attendance.
It's also a big week for our kindergarten students as it's field trip week! They'll be visiting Keeley Park on Monday, Hamilton Lakes on Wednesday, the High Point Children’s Museum on Thursday, and wrapping up their week at Tanglewood Park on Friday.
This Friday, we're continuing with Fun Fridays! Students who have earned 58 points or 80% of all possible points throughout the week for showing positive behavior, giving their best effort, and completing their tasks will earn the reward of attend an assembly with a the Mad Scientist and enjoy some Kona Ice. Please talk with your child each day about how they're doing in earning their Fun Friday points.
Your Weekly Health and Wellness Tip for this week is: We encourage you to talk with your child about taking a brief moment each day to look at what they need to do and pick just one to three things that are most important. This can really help them feel less overwhelmed and more focused.
Finally, a reminder that there will be no school next Monday as we observe Memorial Day.
Looking ahead mark your calendars for June 6th, for our Kindergarten - 4th grade Awards Ceremonies. Ceremony times are as follows:
Kindergarten 8:30am
First Grade 9:15am
Second Grade: 10:15
Third Grade 9:45am
Fourth Grade 10:45amAs reminder our 5th Grade Awards Ceremony will be on June 9th at 5:30pm. An RSVP was sent home last week.
At Washington we Honor Community, Show Excellence, Think Critically, and Thrive Through Movement. Have a good evening, and I look forward to seeing our Washingtonians tomorrow morning.
