• Good evening, Washington families. This is Principal Paul Travers calling with your weekly message.

This week, we're excited to celebrate Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week! We'll have opportunities each day for our Washington community to show their appreciation for our wonderful staff.

Here's how students can participate this week:

Monday: Students are invited to make a card or a note to show their appreciation to their teacher.
Tuesday: Get ready for Ties and Tutus Day! Students can wear their favorite tie or a fun tutu.
Wednesday: It's time to show your Western spirit by wearing your favorite western attire.
Thursday: Let's travel back in time for Throwback Thursday! Students are invited to wear clothes representing their favorite decade.
Friday: Get ready for Color War Day! Students in each grade level will wear specific colors: Kindergarten in blue, first grade in red, second grade in purple, third grade in yellow, fourth grade in green, and fifth grade in pink.
Just a reminder that after-school tutoring will be held this week on Monday and Wednesday.

Also, we'd like to invite families to join us for a facilities update meeting this Thursday at 6:00 PM in our school library.

For our golf pathway participants, please note that you will be heading to Gillespie Park this Monday and Tuesday. And Interim report will be sent home on Thursday.

Finally, your weekly health and wellness tip: Engage with the Outdoors. Try to make time for some outdoor activity and sunlight exposure every day. Sunlight helps boost mood and vitamin D, and being outside reduces stress and is good for everyone's well-being. Even short amounts of time outdoors can be really helpful.

Please mark your calendars for our Science Night next Tuesday, May 13th, at 5:30 PM. This will be a fantastic event sponsored by the Greensboro Science Center, and we hope to see you there!

At Washington we Honor Community, Show Excellence, Think Critically and Thrive Through Movement.
