Good evening, Brightwood Family. This is Principal Stokes. I just want to take this time to welcome you all to another great week at Brightwood Elementary School.
Please remember that our doors open at 7:00 am for students to enter. A school staff member will open the door for your scholar to exit the vehicle to enter the school. Our tardy bell will ring at 7:25 am. Staff will be leaving the car rider line once the tardy bell rings. You will then need to walk your scholar to the door so that we can sign them in. Our instructional day ends at 2:10 pm. We will begin dismissing at 2:13 pm. If you need you need to pick your child up early for appointments and/or an emergency, you will need to pick them up before 1:45 pm. Please be sure to have your state-issued ID with you when picking your child up early. When you pick your child up early daily, they are missing instructional minutes that they cannot get back.
Please contact your scholar’s teacher with any academic questions and/or concerns because our first quarter will end next week on October 22.
We are still celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month, which ends this Friday. Please take a moment and ask your child about new interesting facts they learned about the culture and the positive impact it has had on our country.
All students and staff members are expected to wear their mask when they are in school. We must remember the importance and purpose of wearing our mask. Please make sure that your child has a mask daily. As a learning community, we are practicing the 3 W's -- Wait, Wear, and Wash.
Parents, students will need to bring a refillable water bottle to school to have access to water from the water coolers. Please be sure to label your scholar’s clean water bottles.
Parents, please remember if your child is feeling sick, please do not send them to school. Please be sure to contact the school as soon as possible. We want to protect all students from any sickness or illness. We understand we are entering allergy season, and with the new possible COVID symptoms, we don’t want to put others at risk. If your child is out sick with any COVID-like symptoms, he/she will need a doctor’s note to return noting that his/her symptoms are not COVID-related. If your child is exposed to a positive COVID case and/or tests positive for COVID-19, you must contact the school as soon as possible. We have a process in place to decrease the loss of instructional time for your student during that time.
We greatly appreciate your support as we continuously work to provide an excellent education every day to each of our Brightwood Tiger Scholars this school year. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us here at the school or send us a message on ClassDojo. Thank you for all that you do, and have a great evening. Remember you are amazing!
