State Employees Credit Union (SECU) People Helping People Scholarship- $10,000
Any interested Senior needs to complete the verification process (see QR code below) and complete the application by February 18th. Applications must be turned in to your school counselor by Tuesday, February 18th.

The Jason Christopher James Memorial Scholarship applications are due February 7, 2025. One $7,500 award will be given to a student interested in politics, international relations, traveling, and studying/living abroad.
The Kay Hagan Memorial Scholarship applications are due February 15, 2025. This scholarship is intended for a female high school senior with a passion for community and civic leadership. The $1,000 scholarship is renewable for up to 4 years.

If you plan on attending NC State, UNC Chapel Hill or UNC Greensboro, this is a great scholarship.
The 2025-2026 school year A.L. Brooks Scholarship application will be activated January 6, 2025.  The student’s full application packet must be electronically completed and submitted with all required information/documentation via the application system by March 1, 2025, to receive consideration.
A complete application consists of:
- Application
- NC High School Academic Transcript (must include final grades for Fall 2024 term classes)
- SAT/ACT Scores (if not taken, a memo must be uploaded explaining why)
- Recommendations (2)
- 2025-2026 FAFSA (fully processed by the US Dept. of Education)
- Residency Determination Service (NC residency confirmed)
Note:
- Items 1, 2 and 3 are submitted electronically by the student via their account in the application system (NCSEAA MyPortal). Required before the system will allow them to submit their information.
- Recommendations are submitted electronically by the student’s selected recommenders via a system provided MyPortal link.
- We will be able to obtain students’ FAFSA information directly from the US Dept. of Education if at least one NC college/university is listed in the school section.
- We will be able to obtain the students’ RDS information directly from the Residency Determination Service office if they have completed the process.

Description
Established in 1955 by a Trust endowed by the late Aubrey Lee Brooks, these scholarships are available to graduating high school seniors from a 14-county area of North Carolina. The North Carolina State Education Assistance Authority provides central administration for the Brooks Foundation.
Eligibility
- Be a graduating NC HS senior and permanent resident of Alamance, Bertie, Caswell, Durham, Forsyth, Granville, Guilford, Orange, Person, Rockingham, Stokes, Surry, Swain or Warren county
- Plan to enroll for the first time as a full-time degree-seeking student at N.C. State University, UNC-Chapel Hill, or UNC-Greensboro
- Demonstrate financial aid need as determined by the application process; have a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) Student Aid Index (SAI) that does not exceed $12,000
- Applicants must complete residency determination at the North Carolina Residency Determination Service Website
Application Requirements
- Complete and submit a full electronic Aubrey Lee Brooks Scholarship application
- Submit an electronic copy of academic transcript that has final grades for most recent Fall semester
- Submit an electronic copy of SAT and/or ACT score sheet(s)
- Complete and submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for the appropriate school year
Other Information
Of the 17 scholarships, one is awarded to a student from the areas of Greensboro and High Point and to a senior at the N.C. School of Science and Mathematics who is from an eligible county. Additional criteria include merit, leadership, character, and the desire of the recipient to prepare for a career as a useful and informed citizen.
Brooks Scholars may receive additional funding for summer internships, research or travel abroad, and a one-time computer stipend of $2,500. The scholarship is renewable, provided the recipient has continued financial need, remains enrolled full-time at an eligible institution, maintains a 2.75 cumulative grade point average and good citizenship.

Want to attend UNCG and graduate with little to no debt???
This program is called the Guarantee Scholars ProgramLinks to an external site.. The program provides its recipients the opportunity to attend UNCG while accruing little to no debt as they complete their degree. The Guarantee requires the following from their applicants:
- Recent high school or early college graduate (Graduated in December 2024 or later)
- Weighted GPA of 3.5 or greater
- North Carolina resident for tuition purposes (determined by the Residency Determination Service)
- Incoming freshman for the Fall 2025 semester
- Have an SAI of -1,500 (determined by FAFSA reporting)
Our program application is open now! If you know students who meet these criteria, please encourage them to complete the application as soon as possible, as acceptance is competitive and limited. The application can be found on our website. We do utilize FAFSA and Admissions application information to help verify eligibility, but students can still apply now even if they are waiting for admittance or FAFSA completion. The deadline for program applications is March 15th, 2025.
