Southern Guilford Academy
The Southern Guilford Academy offers programs in three strands; Health Sciences, Agriscience, and Education. The SG Academy is designed to give highly motivated students the chance to pursue a focused education and career path through specialized courses in the student selected strand. The Academy is a unique environment that allows students to engage in a rigorous course of study while exploring academic, career, and personal interests as they prepare to continue their formal education at the post-secondary level.
Academy students are required to take honors and AP level courses, including at least 1 AP math and 1 AP science during their 4 years at SG.
Because Southern Guilford is a traditional high school, students get to participate in the strand of their choice while enjoying all the benefits a traditional high school setting has to offer.

Criteria for Acceptance
Southern Guilford Academy is a direct offer school. This means that students are not randomly selected. This is a competitive process with each application being reviewed thoroughly using a rubric. Students are evaluated based on their short answer to the question on the application, 2 teacher recommendations, grades in 7th and 8th grade, as well as their 7th grade EOG scores. We also take into consideration whether they have taken or are currently taking Math 1.
Students are selected for the strand they apply for, so please make sure to choose carefully on the application.
