Culturally Responsive Teaching

The Council in partnership with DPI staff recently completed the development of online professional development modules that are housed in Home Base.

Did you know?

Did you know North Carolina has the highest population of American Indian's east of Mississippi and is home to eight state recognized tribes?  This means Native children are in the school's we serve and our data shows they are under performing and concentrated in some of the lowest performing districts in the state, which we serve.

What can you do?

Our agency supports the State Advisory Council on Indian Education (SACIE).  This Council advocates for increased achievement among American Indian students and increasing the knowledge of our educators about American Indians here in North Carolina and culturally responsive education in general.  This is a great professional development opportunity with the educators with whom you work.
