Charity Bell

As the School Support Officer for Learning Area 8, Charity Bell serves and supports Grimsley, Smith, Weaver, and Western High Schools as well as Kernodle, Allen, Western Guilford, Jackson, Kiser, and Swann Middle Schools. 

Bell has a strong background in PreK-12 education. She came to Guilford County Schools from Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools where she served as a learning community superintendent and zone superintendent for the last six years. In this leadership role over the span of the last six years, Bell supported and supervised principals of Title I elementary, middle and high schools, as well as for the district’s alternative school. 

Prior to working as a learning community and zone superintendent, Bell was the Executive Director of the Northeast Zone and the West Learning Community in Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools. In addition, from 2005-2009, Bell was the principal of West Mecklenburg High School where she helped to implement school-wide academic reform.

Before coming to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools, Bell was the principal of Rochelle Middle School in Kinston, NC, and two schools in Wilmington, NC: D. C. Virgo Middle School and Lakeside High School. Overall, she has been a principal for nine years in the state of North Carolina. 

Prior to becoming a principal, Bell worked as an assistant principal for one year at E. A. Laney High School in Wilmington, NC., completed a principal internship at Vance High School for two years in Charlotte, NC, taught high school math for six years at Kinston High School in Kinston, NC, and worked in private industry for two years in Rocky Mount, NC. 

She received her undergraduate degree in mathematics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and her Master’s Degree in School Administration from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Bell enjoys working in education and with people. Her goal is to be a great servant leader, one who will make a positive difference in the lives of people. When Bell is not working, she enjoys playing the piano, decorating, and thinking.
