Professional Learning Continuum, sign up on Performance Matters for our SY21 course, Equity in Practice. This course is an introduction to topics in educational equity. Here, we discuss implicit bias, the hidden curriculum, and transforming our learning community for culturally responsive teaching.
Regular [virtual] opportunities to critically think with your team (department, school, office) how you all doEquity in Practice.
#EquityWednesday: Beyond the hashtag, this is an opportunity to center equity at the top of your meetings as we continue to develop a district that fosters social emotional learning in service to equity. Think about #EquityWednesday as an integrated component to your team meeting sessions, like the SEL Opener. #EquityWednesday is an intentional, relevant, and transformative approach for generating critical thinking for our community to begin envisioning an equitable space for all children. This is an opportunity for staff to participate in weekly themed discussions, centering equity.
Every 4th#EquityWednesday of the month, we will host a virtual convening such as:
Conscious Conversation with the Office for Diversity, Equity & Inclusion with topics and themes in conversation with special guest speakers
Rodney Dawson, curator at the Greensboro History Museum will kick off our first #EquityWednesday for the district on 9/23 in a Conscious Conversation with the Office for Diversity, Equity & Inclusion
Topic- Equity in Practice: How History Influences Our Current Moment
One District, One Book feature (co-facilitated with the Department for Social Emotional Learning)
