Research indicates that more-effective principals attract and select higher quality teachers, help teachers improve their professional practice more rapidly, retain higher quality teachers and assist or exit less effective teachers. Our goal is to ensure principals engage in quality professional development opportunities so that they can provide optimal learning, teaching and working environments for students, teachers and staff. In addition to supporting existing school administrators, we also support the development of aspiring administrators. To support administrative internship processes, the District uses the following administrative internship process.
Administrative Internship Process
Administrative Internships are often required for students seeking licensure as a school assistant principal or principal. Guilford County Schools works collaboratively with Partner Universities and/or Program leaders to provide aspiring administrators with experiences to help them become effective and outstanding educational leaders.
Partner University and/or Programs are defined as those who have an approved Memorandum of Understanding agreement with the District. If you are a University or Program leader who seeks to place administrative interns in GCS, please contact the District’s Human Resources Office to ensure there is a signed MOU in place and to obtain additional details about the placement process.
Aspiring administrators who seek an administrative internship in the district must be affiliated with an approved University or Program. Please have your University or Program administrator contact the District’s Human Resources Office to begin the administrative internship placement process.
