Pre-K Screening Process
Parents/guardians who complete the NC Pre-K Application for Guilford County during the application period will receive a letter notifying you of the date, time, and site for your child's screening appointment. Screening appointments will be scheduled both in Greensboro and in High Point locations.
At the screening appointment, your child will be screened for school readiness by a teacher using a developmental assessment. The assessment is a series of activities which create a picture of your child's language, cognitive, and motor development based on age. You may supply additional information which will be helpful in considering placement of your child.
To determine if your child is eligible for the GCS Pre-K program for the upcoming school year, parents/guardians must complete the Pre-K screening process with your child.
Pre-K Placement Process
Placement priority is based on demonstrated need to develop school readiness foundational skills. Parents/guardians of children screened will receive a letter by US mail during the summer notifying you of the status of your child's application.
