Chess Club

For masters through beginners, casual or competitive. Chess club is open to elementary and middle school students; however, GCS competition is only offered for middle school. There are two county-wide chess invitationals for grades 6-8, typically one in December and one in April/May.

For the 2024-2025 school year, membership is limited to 24 students for elementary and 24 students for middle school. The elementary and middle school levels will meet bi-weekly in the media center on Thursdays from 8:05-8:50 AM. Middle school will meet on the 1st/3rd Thursday of the month beginning October 17th and elementary will meet on the 2nd/4th Thursday of the month beginning October 10th.

To join, please ensure that you've completed the commitment form. Students not on the roster will not be able to enter the building.
