I have always been an educator at heart, but took the scenic route to what is my passion, "touching lives one student at a time" after working in Corporate America for twenty years. I graduated from Winston-Salem State University with a BA in English. My initial teaching position was at The Academy at Lincoln where I taught 6th and 8th grade and eventually became a teacher of Reading. I was certified in Academically, Intellectually and Gifted Education from High Point University and received my Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction with a Reading concentration from The University of North Carolina-Greensboro. I earned my Master of School Administration from Gardner-Webb University. My favorite book of all time is Native Son by Richard Wright.
