Mr. Samuel Tesfay

Hello everyone! My name is Samuel Tesfay. This is my sixth year at the Early Middle College at GTCC GSO. This year I will be teaching Honors Chemistry and Biology. I will also be House and College Seminar Advisor. I have a Bachelor of Education degree in Chemistry with a minor in Mathematics from Mekelle University (2005) as well as a Master’s degree in Analytical Chemistry (2009) from Addis Ababa University. My wife and I are parents to a beautiful daughter, Eldana.

Before I started teaching at the EMC at GTCC GSO, I taught Chemistry at the American Hebrew Academy, a private college preparatory school here in Greensboro. Prior to that, I worked as a university lecturer and researcher and taught General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Instrumental Analysis, and Analytical Chemistry to undergraduate students.

I enjoy teaching chemistry and math to high school students. I love to do multiple examples in my lessons so that students can see the many ways to approach a problem.

I am approachable and patient and look forward to working with my students to help them understand the material. I realize that not everyone learns in the same way, and I will work with my students to determine what method of teaching and learning works best for them.
