One Simple Rule
The Art Room runs on one simple rule:
If what you are doing
- Interferes with teaching or learning,
- Hurts anyone in any way, or
- Keeps you from being your best self…
Stop and make a better choice!
So, what does this actually mean:
- When I am talking, you are not talking. If I am addressing the class, students should be silent and listening. No side conversations. No trying to talk over me. No shouting to friends across the room. The same goes for class discussions: be respectful of your classmates.
- Keep an appropriate voice level. We are indoors. Classes are large. There is bound to be some noise but we need to be mindful of our classmates and the classes around us. Please do not shout across the room. Use your "inside voice.”
- Stay in your seat. Unless you are getting supplies (with Mrs. Kanir’s permission), you should be in your assigned seat. If you need something, raise your hand. Don't wander around
- If you make a mess, clean it up. Messes are bound to happen. Art can be a messy endeavor! I will give you time to clean up at the end of each class. YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR OWN MESS! Just clean up, it’s not a big deal. If you can help someone at your table, please do so. It takes all of us to keep our studio space clean. If you spill something, wipe it up. If you have paper scraps on the floor, pick them up. If you use the art supplies, put them back where they go.
- If it’s not yours, leave it alone. Keep your hands off someone else’s work and belongings. Keep your hands to yourself.
- Be polite, respectful, and kind. Remember, you are here to create and learn about art.
