Here is a brief overview of what each grade level should expect. This overview is simply a snapshot of our focus for the year. It is not a complete list of lessons and will expand or adjust as needed.

6^th Grade:

• Elements of Art
• Drawing with Basic Shapes
• Creating with each of the Elements of Art
  • Working with Line
  • Value Studies
  • Color Theory/Working with Color
  • Shape vs Form
  • Creating Texture (actual texture vs. visual texture)
  • How to Show Space (background/middle ground/foreground, 1-point perspective, etc.)

7^th Grade:

• Elements of Art (review)
• Principles of Design
• Drawing with Basic Shapes (review)
• Creating with each of the Principles of Design
• Watercolor Techniques
• Showing depth in your artwork (using 2-point perspective)
• Pop Art drawing and sculpture
• Drawing Realistic Portraits

8^th Grade:

• Elements and Principles (review)
• Pen and Ink Drawings (creating value with pen)
• Photography
• Graffiti and Street Art
• Gesture Drawings
• Wire Sculpture
• Old to New Paintings (adding modern elements to older works of art)
• Plaster Masks
