• Hello! My name is Darcie Lam, and I am the English Learners (EL) teacher at Northeast Middle school. I work with the English Learners department in GCS. We are committed to helping English Learners acquire the necessary language skills to succeed, not only in school, but in life as well. I teach several encore classes of students whose families speak multiple different languages, including Spanish, French, Swahili, Arabic, and many others. We are a diverse family in my classroom.

I've worked for GCS for 3 years, going into my 4th year. I graduated from UNCG with my bachelor's in Asian Studies and my Masters in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of other Languages).

I entered teaching because I wanted to support students like my husband, Thinh Lam. His family is from Vietnam, and he grew up in a multilingual household. He told me how much he appreciated the teacher who supported him in being successful in school through language acquisition. I hope to be there for students like him. We live in Winston-Salem with our two cats, Gomi and Bako (translated to Trashcan).
