CTE - Career and Technical Education

Ensuring students are "college and career ready" has become a critical issue as concerns rise about success of the U.S. education system and ultimately, the country's economic competitiveness.  The discussion surrounding college readiness is generally limited to academic skills, but actual career readiness requires an even more rigorous blend of academic, technical and employability skills, and the ability to apply these skills in authentic career situations. The foundation for strengthening career readiness are already in place through career and technical education (CTE), which offers this unique blend of skills through comprehensive programs of study. HOW CAN I HELP?

CCM ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIESThe College & Career Manager (CCM)) role is to support Career and Technical Education (CTE) and to coordinate career development services for students participating in CTE.

The CCM works collaboratively with administrators, student services personnel, and teachers to ensure the delivery of career development services. 

Career development services include work-based learning opportunities, college and career exploration and employability skills.

The CCM facilitates partnerships to support students as they navigate the process of deciding what they want to do after high school, by providing them with the tools and resources to prepare for transition to post-secondary education and/or employment.

SPC ROLE & RESPONSIBILITES

The Special Populations Coordinator(SPC) role is to assist school and CTE administrators in identifying programs that need improvement by providing strategies to improve supplementary services to assist special populations’ students in meeting the CTE Performance Indicators. 

The SPC facilitates in-service training for school personnel working with students within special populations to improve their abilities and techniques in meeting the special needs of these students.

The SPC participates on the IEP Team for students enrolled in CTE courses, as needed, in the development and implementation of the CTE and transition components of the IEP

The SPC provides modifications and accommodations to building level coordinators for CTE end-of-course testing and WorkKeys test administrators using data to make informed decisions.
