PURPOSE:
The purpose of the Global Languages Club at SEHS is to promote and foster interest in the study of languages other than English, to encourage lifelong study of global cultures, to incorporate languages into interactive activities, and to assist others in developing their knowledge of languages and global cultures.
MEETINGS:

ACTIVITIES:
Typical activities in which we participate include, but are not limited to: the Homecoming Parade, Day of the Dead, our Annual Holiday Banquet, and FFA Day. We also have game nights, movie nights, and we participate in service learning projects such as shopping for children in need at Christmas.
OFFICERS/ELECTIONS:
Officers are elected at the last meeting each spring or if a vacancy opens up during the school year. We have high expectations of our officers. If you are interested in running for office, please look at this document.

Preamble:
We, the members of the Global Languages Club of Southeast Guilford High School, in order to promote and foster interest in the study of languages other than English, will encourage lifelong study of global cultures, incorporate languages into interactive activities, and assist others in developing their knowledge of languages and global cultures, do hereby ordain and establish this Constitution for the Global Languages Club of Southeast Guilford High School, Greensboro, North Carolina.
Article 1
The name of the organization shall be the Southeast Guilford Global Languages Club.
Article 2
All students who have taken a global language course either at Southeast High School or through a county or state online course and those who are interested in global languages or who are native speakers of languages other than English shall be eligible for membership.
Article 3
Section I: The officers of the Club shall be President, Vice-President, Secretary, Global Leadership Team Representative and Historian. All elected officers are responsible for consistently attending meetings and events and reporting to the academic advisors when they are unable to perform their duties. If they are unable to perform their duties due to other obligations, they may be removed from office by the academic advisors and replaced.
Section II: The duties of the President shall be to schedule, plan, and preside over meetings and perform any other duties proper to the office as determined by the academic advisors.
Section III: The Vice-President shall preside in the absence of the President and shall aid the President in organizing and planning meetings and events, and perform any other duties proper to the office as determined by the academic advisors.
Section IV: The Secretary shall keep proper records of all meetings including attendance and minutes and perform any other duties proper to the office as determined by the academic advisors.
Section V: The Global Leadership Team Representative shall consistently attend meetings of the Global Leadership Team and report news and actionable items to the club and perform any other duties proper to the office as determined by the academic advisors.
Section VI: The Historian shall consistently attend meetings and document club activities and events in which the club participates, submit photos/videos for use on the website and yearbook and perform any other duties proper to the office as determined by the academic advisors.
Section VII: The activities of the club will consist of but are not limited to the following: Homecoming Parade, International Holiday Banquet, International Festival, Falcon Cup (service learning project), and FFA Day.
Article 4: Officers shall be elected to serve for a year. Officers shall apply for the position desired at the end of the school year. Academics and behavior must remain in good standing. No officer, missing three consecutive meetings, may hold a position. Elections will be held at the last meeting of the school year.
Article 5: All resignations will be submitted in written form to the president for officer positions.
Article 6: Meetings shall be held at least once a month, with the exception of conflicts in the school’s schedule.
Article 7: These by laws may be amended by two-thirds vote of the members at any regular meeting.
Article 8: Attendance to meetings by the membership will be required in order to participate in the club functions. Failure to maintain regular attendance will result in the removal of the member from the club by a vote of the club leadership. The club advisors have sole authority to approve or disapprove of this removal action. The belief is that the Global Languages Club will be proactive in the school community and not a resumé builder for college.
Article 9: The members shall be required to notify either the president and/or secretary in event of absence.
