Fifth Grade News: May 2025

Upcoming Events-

May 29: Reading EOG

May 30: Math EOG

June 3: Science EOG

June 10: 5th Grade Promotion Ceremony (8:00am)

Here are some important announcements/reminders:

  • Please make note of the important dates for the remainder of the school year.  We have begun EOG Review. Please make sure your child is present each day for the entire school day for the remainder of the year.  EOG scores determine the courses that your child will take next year in middle school, so they need to be present for review to demonstrate their readiness for 6th grade.  Please make sure they arrive at school by 7:15am and stay until dismissal at 2:00pm.

  • PowerSchool Parent Portal is a great tool for keeping track of your child’s grades. Grades are updated weekly.  To access PowerSchool Student: www.myncedcloud.org  (Students know how to log in to check their grades.)

  • Weekly folders go home with your child on Tuesdays.  Your child can fix any work that is in their folder to improve their grades.  All corrections must be turned in by Thursday of that week.  They may correct each assignment one time to improve their grade.

  • Homework: Students should be reading for 30 minutes and practicing their multiplication and division facts for at least 5 minutes each night.  In addition, any unfinished classwork assignments must be taken home to finish as homework.

Curriculum Updates-

Reading- Students will continue their EOG review by practicing reading comprehension strategies.  Students should be reading for 30 minutes every evening!

Math- Students will continue their math EOG review by practicing problem solving strategies.  Please make sure they are also studying their multiplication and division facts.

Science- Students have been given a Science EOG vocabulary assignment that requires them to show their understanding of the different science concepts and terms we have learned this year.  This assignment is due by May 30th.
