Music
Music education classes are offered to students at Gateway once a week, every other week. All students aged 5 to 21 have the opportunity to participate.
Music is truly the universal language. Music touches individuals in many different ways. Participation in our music education classes offers opportunities for learning, creativity and expression that may not be reached through more traditional approaches. This is especially true with special-needs students. Regardless of the level of disability, we strive to find ways for all of our students to participate in music. We give opportunities for listening, singing, movement activities and playing rhythm instruments. We seek to provide augmentative communication devices and adaptation of equipment and instruments to encourage everyone to have the opportunity to participate. During music classes we strive to reinforce themes and lessons being taught by the classroom teachers with monthly themes.
