This year, we will spend a part of our days each day focusing on a vocational education skill.

The goal for High School this year is to create and start a SBE (student-based enterprise). This will look like a coffee cart (more details to come) and running the thrift store as some examples. Our students will receive paychecks and a paystub every week for their hours worked and will be taught how to budget their money and be allowed to use their money to make purchases.  

The goal in introducing SBE’s is to allow our High Schoolers to take back autonomy in the school and feel more pride in Gateway. This allows them the chance to engage in functional tasks throughout the day that can then be carried over outside of school (that is the goal!).

When we have our grand re-opening of the store and our coffee cart we will send an invitation to all our parents, families and staff!
