Doak's Reading Folks - 

This year we will exceed our own expectations in reading by being highly engaged in a variety of genres!

Each day we will participate in Mini Lessons, Read A Louds, Independent Reading, Class Discussions and Writing.

We are all about utilizing our skills and strengths to change our own lives and those around us for the better.

1st Quarter

7th Grade will begin the Literacy Unit reading the novel Flush by Carl Hiaasen

8th Grade will begin the Literacy Unit reading the novel The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton

2nd Quarter

7th Grade will begin a Research Unit on Weather

8th Grade will begin a Research Unit on events that led up to the AMerican Revolutionary War

3rd Quarter

7th Grade will begin a Mystery Unit and reading the novel 

8th Grade will begin a Science Fiction Unit and reading the novel Eager by Helen Fox

4th Quarter

7th Grade will work on another Research Unit on Civil Rights

8th Grade will work on another Research Unit on Energy
