Hello! I am Leslie Brown, one of the School Counselors at Jefferson Elementary. I was born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and yes, a big Steelers fan! I graduated from Westminster College (New Wilmington, PA) with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology/Criminal Justice & Music/Trombone Performance in 2000. I graduated from Slippery Rock University (Slippery Rock, PA) in 2002 with a Master of Education degree in School Counseling, and have worked as a School Counselor ever since.
In addtion to my responsibilities as a School Counselor here at Jefferson, I am the Sponsor for our National Junior Beta Club. Membership in our Beta Club is available for selected 4th & 5th grade students who exemplify excellence in the classroom and the community. In our 3 years of being a chapter of the National Beta Club, we have earned several national recognitions as well as student championships at the state and national competitions!
I love working with students and am looking forward to an amazing year with all of our Eagle Families. Feel free to contact me at brownl2@gcsnc.com AND/OR 336-316-5870.

Welcome to Jefferson! I am Melissa Norman, one of the JES school counselors. During the 2021-2022 school year, I will be teaching guidance in kindergarten, 1st, 2nd and 3rd grades and leading our school's social/emotional learning!
This is my 3rd year as a counselor at Jefferson, though I taught 3rd and 4th grades here from 2004-2007! I'm a two time graduate of Wake Forest University, with an undergraduate degree in Education and a Masters in Education in School Counseling. I have three children, two in elementary school and one in middle school!
I love teaching and working with children individually and in small groups. Feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns (normanm@gcsnc.com or 336-316-5870).
