  • Good evening, Jefferson Community, this is your Proud Principal, Sue Villarrubia. I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. We have a very busy 8 days left! Please listen carefully to the following reminders so together we can ensure a safe, smooth last full week of school.

    GCS has modified the End of Grade Testing schedule which includes reteaching and retesting, during the regular school year. This means that there will be children testing in the building every day until and including the last day of school. To ensure that we create an effective environment for our students testing, it is important that school continue to run like school. We know that the sun is out, students are excited, and summer break is around the corner, but please help us in reminding your child:
    • Continue to bring a bookbag to school.
    • Continue to focus and listen to the staff.
    • Continue to show the JES WAYS - all day, every day!
    Attendance - if 3rd - 5th graders are absent for any scheduled test, they are required to take it the first day they return to the building. If students do not pass the test and are invited to retake the test, the State requires them to have a minimum of 1-day of reteaching. If students are absent, this makes this very difficult. We want each student to have the opportunity to SHOW WHAT THEY KNOW!!
    Our 4th quarter awards program is this Friday for K-4th graders. Invitations for students receiving awards will come home on Monday. If you are checking your child out after the program, you must complete the form below or you will be required to check them out in the office. This process is not fast, so if you are in a hurry, make sure you complete the link in the newsletter.

    Please make sure ALL media center books are returned to the Media Center this week.

    Report Cards will be mailed home this year. If your address has changed, make sure you change it is SchoolMint and email your updated address to our front office staff so she can update PowerSchool. fosterl5@gcsnc.com

    We will not have lunch visitors for the remaining days of school. We need to ensure the building is secure for testing.
