Service-Learning General Information

  • Guilford County Schools (GCS) wants every student to become involved in service-learning, but it is optional to participate.  Click the link to access the easy-to-use Service-Learning Handbook, which outlines all of the requirements and forms necessary to get started.

Requirements for the Class of 2024 and beyond: 200+ approved service hours to receive the Service-Learning Diploma and 100-199 approved service hours to receive the Service-Learning Exemplary Award.  Service-Learning Honors are given for 70-99 approved hours of service.

You must complete the High School Service-Learning Approval Form for any projects with organizations outside of Weaver. The Approval Form is available at this link

Use the Service-Learning Contact Log Form to log your hours as you complete your service ONLY if your organization is not comfortable verifying hours through x2VOL.  Be sure that your service-learning supervisor signs at the bottom of the form. You only need to complete this form if your organization is NOT approving your hours electronically through x2VOL.
