Parents and Students,
The opportunity has just risen to offer an Introduction to French course to all of our SEMS students. This course would provide exposure to a world language without the added pressure of an end-of-course exam. [FYI: High school credit is only earned for those students completing the two-year IA/IB courses or along with an end-of-course language exam or online high school courses.]
World Language is not a GCS high school graduation requirement although many colleges/universities require a minimum of high school Level I and II for admission. Students may choose to continue with French I or decide to take Spanish, both, or any other language at the high school level.
6th/8th Grades: Intro to French A/B (semester) replaces one current encore class; exposure to French language;
8th grade can continue with French 1 & 2 in 9th grade, if you choose
7th grade only: French IA (yearlong) replaces TWO current encore classes; continues French IB in 8th gr then can earn credit for high school French I and enter high school taking French 2
