Mr. Edgar Zimmerman, Sr.

Greetings, I am Edgar C. Zimmerman, Sr. and super excited about joining the Mendenhall Mustangs Administration Team. I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Mathematics Education from NCA&TSU – 1992 and a Master’s in School Administration from UNC-Greensboro – 2005. I started with GCS at Dudley High School fall 1993 and taught Math, served as the Math Department Chair, Assistant Baseball Coach, Assistant Athletic Director, Dudley Fellows advisor, and School Leadership Team representative. I served as an Assistant Principal at Grimsley High School (3years), Kiser Middle School (4years), and the former Guilford Middle School (2years) before becoming the founding principal for HOPE Academy (4years) a private faith base modified middle school. Before returning to GCS a third time, I was the Assistant Principal at BY High School (1year) and Stoney Creek Elementary School (1year) in Caswell County School System. In 2018 I returned to GCS as the first Assistant Principal for the George C. Simkins, Jr. Elementary School and in December of 2019 I became the Interim Principal and then assigned principal for Simkins July 2020 until June 2024.

My entire family are Aggies. My bride, Dr. Stacey C. Zimmerman (30 years) is a math professor at Western Carolina University, Edgar, Jr. is an accountant and lives in Matthews NC, Lawson is a PhD candidate in the A&T/UNCG joint school of Nano Engineering and Nano Science, and our daughter Stasia will graduate December 2024 with a degree in Food and Nutrition with a minor in Biology. I enjoy traveling with my family, fishing, muscle cars, and riding my Harley Davidson motorcycle. I am a Life Member of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. and I serve as an officer for the alumni chapter.

This is my 31st year as an educator and I am looking forward to an incredible year as we merge the Mendenhall and Swann students, families, and staff. Let’s make the 2024-25 school year a historical marker in the Guilford County community.
