Mrs. Nikki Garren

Hello, Mendenhall Families! My name is Nikki Garren and I am excited to serve as the principal intern at Mendenhall Middle School for the 2024-2025 school year. I’m thrilled to be a part of the team as we welcome some of the Swann family and I know that we will be better together. I am working on my Masters in School Administration through the Principal Fellows Grant at Western Carolina University. I have been an educator for 12 years and have mostly taught fifth-grade science, but also have experience as an adjunct professor at Sandhills Community College Department of Engineering. I left my first career path of civil engineering and land surveying where I worked as a CAD technician because I wanted to see more diversity in the engineering field. Today, the dream has evolved to see equitable outcomes for all students. Every child has the right to a high-quality education in a safe, engaging learning environment. I believe that students are most successful when the community, school leadership, staff, and students collaborate.

In my free time, I enjoy walking my dog, Einstein, reading, hiking, visual art (painting, drawing, colored pencil work, etc.,), tabletop RPGs, and working on various projects with my husband of 14 years. I have lived in the Greensboro area since attending the University of North Carolina at Greensboro for my bachelor's in Education.

For the upcoming school year, I look forward to learning how to be a great school administrator from the community, school-based leadership, teachers, staff, families, and students here at Mendenhall Middle School.

Warm regards,

Nikki Garren
