Mrs. Cathy Hailey
Thank you for visiting my web page and learning more about me as the Reproductive Health and Safety Education Teacher for Kiser Middle School.
Let me begin by saying that I am the middle daughter. I have two sisters. I am a wife and the mother of two beautiful young women. My family has a long list of educators. My mother is a retired teacher.
When I first came to Kiser, my youngest daughter was a toddler. Now, she is twenty-six years old and is currently a second grade teacher herself. She also decided to continue the family legacy of being an educator.
"Thank You" for allowing me to teach your student(s). Many of the students I have taught for all three years (grades 6-8) and it has been a pleasure to observe them growing and changing into young adults.
All students in public schools in North Carolina are required to take equal parts of Health and Physical Education. Reproductive Health and Safety Education is a portion of the required Essential Standards of the Standard Course of Study in Health. My goal, (as stated in the 2009 North Carolina Healthy Youth Act), House Bill 88, is to provide parents, students, and schools with effective Reproductive Health and Safety Education information.
Kiser Middle students will begin Reproductive Health and Safety Education/Family Life classes on or around Tuesday, March 18, 2025. Classes will continue to rotate based on each P.E. teachers' Health schedule during the 2024-2025 school year.
I am the Reproductive Health and Safety Education/Family Life Teacher for three middle schools in Guilford County. The three schools I serve are 1) Kiser Middle (base school), 2) Northern Guilford Middle and 3) Northwest Guilford Middle. I am one of seven Health Resource/Family Life Teachers in middle schools within Guilford County. I have been teaching at Kiser Middle for over 25 years. It is fun teaching the children of students I once taught! It also shows my age!
Time sure does fly when you enjoy what you do! I love the fact that I have the opportunity of teaching "every" student in the schools that I serve. I teach nearly 3,000 students annually between the 3 schools that I serve.
Prior to being hired by Guilford County Schools, I was the Health Education Coordinator for the Asheboro City School System. My primary duty was to develop and implement a Family Life Curriculum for K-12 students. I was also responsible for training teachers to teach lessons within the Family Life Curriculum.
I am a two-time recipient of the NCSHAPE-North Carolina and Guilford County Schools "Middle School Health Educator of the Year" award. I feel honored to have awards for doing something that I enjoy doing (teaching).
I strive to establish a partnership with parents to support student learning. Arguably, the most important benefit of teacher-family relationships is that both teachers and parents are able to exchange ideas on the best way to support the student. Teachers learn about the student's needs, and parents learn more about the school's academic program.
Educate, Inspire, Learn and Change. "Education is the Key to Making a Difference".
My Teacher's Promise”
I promise you as a parent, that every day your child will learn something.
Some days they will bring it home in their hands.
Some days they will bring it home in their heads, and
Some days they will bring it home in their hearts.
Thank you once again for allowing me the opportunity to fulfill my "Teacher Promise"
