Thank you for visiting the Oak Hill Media Center page! Welcome! My name is Mrs. McGoogan, and I serve as the Media Specialist for our school. I served as a classroom teacher for 15 years, teaching 1st - 3rd grades, before becoming the Media Specialist at Oak Hill beginning the 2017-18 school year.
Our library media program serves to enrich and support the school community. The library provides a wide range of materials on appropriate levels of difficulty and services that will encourage growth in knowledge and encourage a love of reading. To accomplish this mission, students are taught how to locate, select, evaluate, and organize resources in the library. Not only do we provide resources that support the curriculum, stretch their minds and stimulate inquiry, but books of high interest are selected to motivate students to enjoy reading.
During class time, students often have the opportunity to participate in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) activities that relate to a book read aloud. This encourages creativity and teamwork. Critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills are also engaged.
