    Remembering "Big Jim" Modlin

    The Ragsdale High School family suffered an enormous loss, as Jim Modlin passed away on September 20th from a heart attack. Standing at 6’8’’ Jim was one of the best basketball players to ever come out of Ragsdale High School and Guilford County. Upon graduation from Ragsdale “Big Jim” went on to play for the East Carolina Pirates and later for the American Basketball Association’s Pittsburg Pipers. Recently Jim could be heard on the radio calling local high school football and basketball games. Always a huge supporter of high school athletics, Jim was a good person and good friend and he was always willing to go the extra mile to make the situation a better one in the end. Our thoughts and condolences go out to “Big Jim” Modlin and his family, and the Ragsdale High School community will always remember the lasting legacy he has left behind.
