In accordance to GCS policy, please see the listing below for state attendance “excused absence” reasons.  All other absences will be coded “unexcused” due to the state policy. 

The following absences are considered lawful absences according to the NC State Board of Education Attendance rules: 

1. Illness/injury 

b Death in family                  

1. Religious observances 
2. Educational opportunity 
3. Medical/Dental Appointment
4. Quarantine
5. Court proceedings
6. Suspension
