• Welcome to Morehead Elementary Music!

I have been teaching music for 21 years, with 18 of those years being at Morehead. Originally from a small town in New Jersey, I started playing the piano when I was 5 years old, and started playing the flute in band, in the 4th grade. I have a Bachelors Degree and Masters Degree in Music Education from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. I received my National Board Certification in Music for Early/Middle Childhood in 2010.

When I'm not teaching music, I enjoy going to concerts with my husband, painting by numbers, exercising, and playing in the garden. My husband is a chef, and we are the proud fur-parents of our dog, Alexander Wenderski.

All kindergarten through fifth grade students will have general music during the arts/pe specialist rotation. In general music class, students learn about music in various cultures, how to play a variety of musical instruments, and learn about music history and composers. Students will create their own music and rhythms, learn to write and read music, compose in groups, and have the opportunity to perform.

During Arts Academy, our after-school arts/pe program for third-fifth graders, I teach a percussion ensemble, a handbell ensemble, a show choir and a recorder ensemble.

I love sharing my love of music with children! Please visit my classroom anytime!
