As a member of the Northern Guilford community, I am excited about working with our teachers and students to continue to improve upon student learning at NGMS as well as my own professional growth. As a life-long learner, I believe that I must continue to grow as an educator. In setting an example for our students and staff, it is important for me to continue to learn new instructional strategies and be a reflective practitioner of the effectiveness of past trends.
I have a undergraduate B.S. in Elementary Education (grades 1-8) from Lander University (Greenwood, SC) and a M.S. in Educational Leadership from Furman University (Greenville, SC). I taught for 14 years in South Carolina public schools (elementary and middle) before moving to North Carolina in 2007. Since being employed by GCS, I have been a classroom teacher and elementary Curriculum Facilitator (McLeansville Elementary) and a Specialist in our Mission Possible office. I joined the NGMS team in 2016. I hope that my experiences at many levels and in multiple capacities will be an asset to NGMS.
I am married to Brad, and we have two wonderful children who are both products of Northern schools. Jeb is currently at NC State University, and Kaitlin attends NGMS. We also have a spoiled Yorkie named Phoebe. When spare time allows, I enjoy reading and playing games with my family.
