Read Theory
Read Theory is a site that allows students to practice reading passages with questions that help them focus on the important concepts. Students can take a pre-test so that passages are geared toward their particular reading levels and needs. Students can each create their own, free account, in addition to being part of a class.
This is good practice for students who want to study for a standardized test, but aren't sure how to study for tests of that nature.
-
Common Lit
Common Lit is a commonly used, in-class resource. You will need a join link or class code to see the assignments for our class. Common Lit provides many connection texts, as well as questions modeled after the EOC so that students can practice test skills and strategies.
-
Actively Learn
Actively Learn is another resource used frequently in class. It offers a simple way to provide texts for students when there aren't enough physical books. It also incorporates reading questions, notes and thoughts into the text rather than asking students to return to an excerpt or idea after reading an entire section. You will need a join link or class code to see assignments in Actively Learn.
-
Quill
Quill is partnered with the College Board to provide Pre-AP and AP activities for students following the College Board's AP Curriculum. Students need a join link or class code to see assignments and activities.

No Red Ink
No Red Ink is another great resource that can be used class-wide or individually. Students can take a diagnostic/pre-text to determine areas of weakness, then work on activities that focus on their particular needs. No Red Ink is best used to focus on grammar and writing skills. It is particularly helpful as preparation for the ACT and the Pre-ACT.
