Project Update: Sternberger Elementary School

  • Latest Project Update (January 2024)

    • The need to rebuild Sternberger Elementary was identified in the GCS Facilities Master Plan in 2019 after months of study and public meetings.

    • While Sternberger Elementary was initially going to be included in phase 1, the board opted to reorganize slightly to make better use of the $300 million that will be available.

    • As a result, Kiser Middle will be rebuilt in phase 1, though it fell just below Sternberger in the prioritization list.

    • This means that construction on Sternberger Elementary will not begin until after a second bond referendum is passed, but some money from this referendum will be used to design the project.

    • This will help the project move more quickly when funds for construction are available.
