Board Holds Input Session on Proposed Airport-Area High School
The Guilford County Board of Education held the first of two meetings to discuss and receive feedback on whether to build the proposed airport-area high school. The first meeting was on Monday, Nov. 5, at 7 p.m. in the auditorium at Page High.
The proposed school is part of the 2008 school bonds and is intended to be constructed in the western part of the county. It would relieve overcrowding at several area schools, including Northwest, Southwest and Western Guilford high schools. Dr. Terrence Young, chief information officer, presented information about the district, including enrollment projections and current and projected capacity numbers for middle and high schools.
Board members would like feedback from parents, students and members of the community whether to build the school, use the allocated funding for other projects across the district, or other ideas for the funds.
The next meeting will take place on Wednesday, Nov. 28, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Southwest High. Those interested in providing input to board members can also send comments and suggestions to feedback@gcsnc.com .
