GCS Names Two New Principals
Guilford County Schools announced principals for two schools at the Aug. 6 Board of Education meeting.
Todd Cayton will be the new principal of Jamestown Elementary. Cayton is currently an assistant principal at Eastern Middle. He has also served as a Piedmont Triad Leadership Academy administrative intern at Wiley Elementary, and spent three years in Curriculum and Instruction, including one year as the K-12 Literacy Coordinator. Prior to joining that department, Cayton taught language arts for 15 years in Guilford and Rockingham County schools.
Dr. Morris Brooks Jr. will be the new principal of Hampton Elementary University Partnership Magnet. Brooks is currently an assistant principal at Burton Magnet Elementary in Durham Public Schools. He was the acting principal of that school from September 2012 through March 2013. Brooks has also served as the assistant principal of Githens Middle, also in Durham Public Schools. Prior to these assignments, he served as the Director of Testing and Accountability and lead science, mathematics and technology teacher in Weldon City Schools in Weldon, N.C.
