GCS Names New Executive Director of High School Curriculum and Instruction
Guilford County Schools announced Dr. Avis Williams as the new executive director of High School Curriculum and Instruction at the Sept. 26 Board of Education meeting.
Williams is the current principal of Salisbury High School in the Rowan-Salisbury School System. Before taking that position, Williams spent 11 years in administration in Huntsville, Ala., including four years as an elementary-school principal and three years as a middle-school principal.
She won the 2011 Marbury Technology Innovation Award for the state of Alabama for her leadership in technology integration, and in 2012, was honored by the Women's Economic Development Council in Huntsville, Ala., for her professional accomplishments in education and contributions to the community.
Williams has a bachelor’s degree from Athens State College and a doctorate in Education Administration and Instructional Leadership from the University of Alabama.
