Amplify Tablets Heading Back to Company
Guilford County Schools staff is working with employees from Amplify to package and ship all 15,000 tablets back to Amplify. Starting this week, Amplify is sending a team of employees to Guilford County to help pack the tablets and prepare them for shipping. Amplify will be responsible for the shipping costs.
Over the past few weeks, the Personalized Learning Environment Facilitators (PLEFs) have taken the lead at the school level, working with staff, students and parents to collect the tablets and related items. It's a time-consuming process, because each tablet has a serial number that must be linked to a school and student, and each must be accounted for. PLEFs also noted and recorded damage to each tablet and related items.
Now, Amplify teams will be in the PACE schools, verifying the serial numbers and recording breakage information. They will also wipe all identifiable student information from the tablets, pack them in boxes and prepare them for shipping. Amplify staff plan to focus on two schools per day, with a goal of wrapping up in two to three weeks.
On Thursday, Oct. 24, Amplify agreed to replace the tablets and related equipment. There is not a timeline for the process yet, but GCS will continue providing updates as they are available.
