  • Battle of the Books

    BOB is for 4th and 5th-grade students who love to read. Those students who participate in Battle of the Books (BOB) read books from a list established by the state Battle of the Books committee.    At Florence, we meet after the school day as a club and participate in a quiz-bowl-style tournaments to test our knowledge of these books.
     
    Practice is 2:30 until 3:30 on Mondays beginning in October.   In January, our club is narrowed down to 12 students who represent Florence at the district BOB competition in February. For the year 2022-23, teams who qualify for the finals will travel to UNC-Greensboro for the culminating competition.   
    If you are interested in participating, begin reading the books now. Below is a listing of all books:
