Welcome to Vandalia Elementary Media Center

  • How Can Students Check Out Books?

Students will check out books during their library/ media specials day or during open circulation on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays. Students may also return books at any time. Students are allowed to return books any time during the day.

What if a book is lost or damaged?

If a book is damaged, please send it back to school with a note. Please do not try to repair the book on your own, as we have mending materials in the library to try to fix repairs. If the book can be repaired, it will be returned to the shelf. If the book cannot be repaired, a notice with the price of the book will be sent home with the student. Please send a check for the cost of the book made out to Vandalia Elementary School. If a book is lost, you will receive a notice from the library indicating the cost of the book in order for it to be replaced. Checks should be made out to Vandalia Elementary School.

Due to school policy, if the book is found later, you are not eligible for a refund. I suggest looking for the book in all those special places, such as under the bed, in the closet, on bookshelves at home, etc., before paying for the book. Of course, a brand new exact book may be given in place of the lost book instead of payment. For example, if the lost book is a hardback, the book replacement must be hardback.
