Dear Union Hill Family,
It is with great enthusiasm that I introduce myself to you as the new principal of Union Hill Elementary School. Union Hill Elementary has a rich and proud history, and I am honored to be included among its ranks. I’d like to tell you about myself and in the near future look forward to being able to meet you in person and share our hopes and dreams for Union Hill’s continued efforts in achieving high academic excellence.
I graduated from North Carolina A&T State University, as I majored in Elementary Education (Summa Cum Laude). Before teaching, I completed my student teaching at Guilford Middle School. I taught fourth and fifth grade at Apex Elementary AG Magnet School in Wake County Public Schools. I returned to North Carolina A&T State University after receiving the North Carolina Principal’s Fellowship (Class #1). Immediately upon completing graduate school, I served as Assistant Principal at Guilford Primary School and later Fairview Elementary School before relocating to the Triangle area whereas I served as Principal in Durham Public Schools/Wake County Public Schools for 14 years (C. C. Spaulding Elementary, Millbrook Elementary school, and Pearsontown Elementary School, and Reedy Creek Middle School). I later served as Executive Director of Secondary Schools in Nash Rocky Mount Public Schools and currently serve as a School Transformation Coach in Durham Public Schools.
I am excited about returning to Guilford County Public Schools and to the Elementary Principalship, as I am certain that there will be new and exciting challenges to embark upon. I will start as your principal immediately so be expecting to hear from me again soon. As we begin the 2020-2021 academic year, let us begin by working together to ensure that every student has the opportunity to receive a high quality education and graduate ready for college, career, and life.
Thank you,
Therman L. Flowers,
New Principal of Union Hill Elementary School
