CTE Automotive Program at SGHS
Each course is a prerequisite for the next. Passing the SP2 certifications are required for Automotive Service 1-3
IT-11 Automotive Fundamentals
- Students are introduced to a variety of automotive systems. They will learn to use a variety of tools and equipment used in the automotive industry. Students will complete certifications of SP2 general shop safety, SP2 EPA environmental safety, ALI automotive lift safety, and a lubrication and fluids certification.
IT-16 Automotive Service 1
- Students will gain knowledge of basic automotive maintenance skills involving tasks such as: oil changes, serpentine belts, brakes, battery and charging systems, and an introduction to automotive electrical systems.
IT-17 and IT-18 Automotive service 2&3 (Honors)
- Students will experience a more in-depth perspective of a career in the automotive industry and gain in-depth knowledge of repair services according to the MLR ASE standards. Students will have more shop time in class and have the opportunity to obtain industry-level certifications that will boost a resume for the automotive industry as a career.
