Welcome to an exciting year in first grade at Stokesdale Elementary. I am thrilled to be your child’s teacher and can’t wait to begin our journey together. As we begin this year together, I want the best educational experience for each child in our class. Working together as a community will help everyone have a successful year in first grade.  If you have a concern or suggestion please let me know and together we can solve any problems that may arise. I feel communication is the link between parents and teachers and we should always be willing to listen to each other’s opinions. I feel each child has the gift to learn, but everyone learns differently. I will do my best to meet the needs of every child in my classroom to help ensure their success in first grade.

This is my twelfth year as a full-time teacher to Stokesdale Elementary.   Therefore, I feel very comfortable with the first grade curriculum and routines. I attended Lock Haven University in Pennsylvania, receiving my bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. I also hold a master’s degree in Elementary Education from North Carolina A & T in Greensboro.

I live in Oak Ridge with my husband of 25 years and our two daughters. Andrew, my husband, is an administrator, Director of Testing and Accountability in Thomasville City Schools. Our oldest daughter, Lillian, is a senior attending Appalachian State University and our youngest daughter, Madison, is a freshman at UNC-Chapel Hill. I love to read Nicholas Sparks books and travel to the beach in my spare time. I can’t wait to start our year together! Thank you in advance for your time and support for a successful year in first grade!
