The Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery or ASVAB assesses an individual's current knowledge of basic skills and concepts. It determines eligibility for the branch and the rank of the military a person qualifies. It assesses the knowledge generally acquired in high school. However, some sections contain content not taught in any specific class but assesses knowledge of skills required for certain jobs. The ASVAB aids individuals in identifying their skills and strengths. Scores help guide career exploration.
