Who can apply to the Andrews Early College of Health Science Academy?
Students in grades 8-10, which are rising 9th grade to rising juniors.
What does the application process include?
The online application, which will be completed here will include a essay question and once selected for the academy, transcripts or a recent report card will need to be provided.
When is the application deadline?
Application deadline will correspond with the district deadline each year. Applications received after this date will be viewed but with no guarantee of admittance. The program is a limited enrollment program and applications must be received before the deadline to be considered. After the deadline, applications will be based on availability.
What are the qualifications needed?
Students must have a 2.8 GPA or better, as well as excellent character and attendance.
What kinds of courses are involved?
Graduation required classes either regular or Honors, Health Science I, Health Science II and Nursing Fundamentals if the student is on the CNA track.
What colleges or programs are affiliated with the Academy?
GTCC Jamestown (college transfer)
Students attend Universities such as NC State, UNC-CH, WSSU, UNC-Charlotte for Nursing
What kind of college credits can I earn?
Academy students can graduate from high school with college credit if they start in the early college program their junior or senior year. Earned college credits transfer to all UNC universities.

What are the fees to attend the Health Science Academy?
All college courses and books are free. Students may purchase optional Early College Health Science Academy merchandise. There are also optional field trips, some which may include a fee.
What other school activities are offered?
Andrews High also offers athletics, band, drumline, Service Learning Club, HOSA, Robotics, and more than 30 additional clubs and organizations.
Transportation is usually provided by GCS throughout the county, in most cases.
School hours are 9:15 a.m. to 4:20 p.m., following the regular GCS calendar.
