Hi! My name is Mrs. Mebane and I have been with Guilford County Schools for 20 years, and prior to that, with private non-profit for 10 years. My experience with the Special Needs Population began in 1990 while serving Adults with Severe and Profound Disabilities in a group residential setting. My first year teaching High School Adapted Curriculum began Fall 2000. I have been teaching Adapted Curriculum at Ben L. Smith High School for the past 11 years.
My educational background includes a B.A. Degree in Speech Communication and Theatre from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, and an M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Phoenix. My educational philosophy centers around the development of the "total person", and I especially like to include elements of the arts in my teaching. I truly enjoy working with my students at Ben L. Smith!
