AIG Add-On Licensure

  • How do I obtain AIG Add-On Licensure?

Are you interested in working with Academically Gifted students? Have you thought about pursuing your AIG licensure?

There are two ways a teacher who holds a clear initial license can obtain the AIG add-on licensure:

    1. Successfully complete 4 graduate-level courses from an approved institution of higher learning;  OR
    2. Take and pass the Praxis Exam (5358) for Gifted Education.

The AG Department sponsors an annual scholarship for K-8 core content teachers interested in completing their AIG licensure through the completion of graduate coursework. Scholarship recipients will receive tuition to attend an institution of higher learning. In order to apply a teacher must: (1) be employed by GCS; (2) be assigned to teach a core subject; (3) hold a clear initial license; and (4) submit a completed scholarship application.
