Philosophy

The long term suspension process is a disciplinary process, however whenever possible and appropriate, Guilford County Schools places the focus more predominantly on educating our students on societal and legal norms. For a student who commits a serious violation of the GCS Code of Conduct, it is the goal of GCS to:

• Educate the student so they gain an understanding of the inappropriate nature of their behavior;
• Provide the student with strategies to avoid future misconduct; and
• Allow the student to continue their education if possible and appropriate.
